This was gorgeous and infuriating, Caroline. So full of power and conviction. I loved every single line, so much so I’m sitting in stunned silence. Most people don’t realize how integral archivists are to history and humanity. Fighting alongside with you 🫂❤️🔥
Such an important and beautiful piece of writing. You are so on point when you say that "history doesn't maintain itself." I pray that something will change soon to alter the course of our history and steer it towards happier, less fearful days.
Thank you for your service and your knowledge. I was taught in library school about the importance of a paper archive. The gold standard. Digital access is good for quick and searchable access points. But. We have to maintain the physical archives. I’ve been so worried about this of late.
I’m not a Luddite. I like digital but I hate how paper gets a bad rap for “taking up too much space.” Well that space is simply more reliable. Thanks so much Chris!
I know. I’m not a Luddite either. But I also know the backup of paper is what gives value to the digital archive. Truth and reality matter. Real stuff.
I’ve been worried about you, and hope your job holds. Archivists like yourself do the most important work, thank you thank you - for doing this work and explaining the importance of it with the reverence it deserves.
This is my favorite Caroline post ever, so immediate yet so carefully crafted. Three sentences to explain your position. That is some heartless shit. I will hold the line with you. Any time. ♥️
Thanks Van!! The thing that freaks me out the most about AI is how often it gets things wrong…and I worry for the people that are looking to it for truth.

Agree!! And there’s something magical about holding something physical…not just staring at a screen.

I do not take compliments from you lightly!!! Doing massive amounts of crocheting to regulate the nervous system 🫠
Thanks Caroline for your important work. You are a steward of the past. And without the past we are lost.
Thank you Deborah 🤍
