-- “To land on something familiar. To get my bearings. To feel at home.” I so agree. It’s not easy to earn your place in the world. To find balance. To learn how to make it right. Beautiful piece. Xo.

Thank you, Thaissa!! It's hard but I'm trying! Hope you are well ❤️

Let’s learn what it means to bloom. It must be better. We were designed to take up space and plant deep roots - to be wholly and unapologetically our own.

The real you is special and important. We try on different masks and try to fit in once in a while for contrast. Just this week I have tried things only to know they aren’t in alignment with the real me.

Courage to bloom, fly like the pigeon, nice piece. Please keep talking to yourself so we can help each other I shed and become luminous as we naturally are. One of joy and love.

I think the real magic comes from, as you said, being free and open to try new things and new spaces but also knowing when to walk away! Trying something and hating it isn’t a bad thing if it leads to you learning more about yourself! Grateful to you, always ❤️

Hatari!!! now elephant snorts will plague my dreams i probably saw that 50 times on black and white tv as 10+ year old....your entire post cohesive and thought provoking as usual this time seems to find each lever point in all the moving parts...indelible (and aided by your previous Gabor sisters reportage which fascinated and educated) now i see Eva's role in an entire new perspective which is mostly due to you but one would think after 50 years i might have sensed some shift in the true psychology at play.... worthy goal of being confident happy amenable you seem to be saying is achievable without having to hide your true self in the shadows (unless of course felony violations are your thing, in that case then: act away!!)

Hatari! is incredible to watch as a kid...as an adult, I'm horrified (Just as I am with John Wayne playing Kublai Khan).

I always appreciate your insight. You touch on things I don't always notice.

It's clearly always bothered me the way the Gabor's were dismissed as "dumb." My favorite quote about Eva comes from Eddie who when asked what it must be like to work with someone so frivolous, he replied - "Eva is as frivolous as a Mack truck."

i play off your insight to be honest

I enjoyed this post. Thank you.

A digressive thought: until your post, I never realized that Green Acres plowed the ground, so to speak, for Schitt's Creek.

Thank you, David. I so admire you as a writer, so that means a lot.

I hadn't made that connection either, but you are absolutely right! It is a callback to all of the "rural" shows of the 60s. Mo Rocca has a great podcast episode about the "Rural Purge" and how all of those shows were axed at the same time.

well i guess the Dukes of Hassard and later the Bob Newhart show when it re-located and imagined itself in a rural Vermont Inn slipped thru the cracks....this is interesting tho to know

"And the other bizarre reality is that many of us don’t actually like the people that we perceive to be perfect anyway."

This is so true and something I've been realizing as well. I love reading your work Caroline, it's truly a gift. 🙏🏻

We're all doing this unnatural performance - let's just stop.

Your presence here and writing brings me so much joy! Thank you!!

Yes! I’ve never felt more connected than I do right now. It’s odd realizing that people like me for me after spending a decade convincing myself otherwise. I cringe thinking about that desperation.

Thank you 😊
